Helping Adolescents with Biofeedback

This first of four lessons was recorded on August 11th, 2011. Lesson 1 objectives include understanding neurofeedback's applicability to adolescent problems and using it to achieve goals with teenagers in treatment. Topics covered in lesson 1 are:

* A review of common juvenile problems/needs
* Exploring how neurofeedback can uniquely address these needs
* Research-based efficacy of neurofeedback

Lessons 2-4 go further into the goals of neurofeedback and introduce licensed counselors, psychologists, other health professionals, researchers and students to treatment and assessment models designed to help better understand troubled youth. The course introduces an approach to treating adolescent problems with neurofeedback, biofeedback and counseling. It provides an overview of treatment considerations and strategies to maximize neurofeedback and biofeedback modalities. It answers some of the questions about comorbidity in Troubled Youth for such disorders as ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety disorders and Social Disorders.

After viewing the class recordings participants will have a basic understanding of neurofeedback and biofeedback for troubled youth, they will be aware of how biofeedback can be used; they will have seen a demonstration of a session recording with a real patient, and they will be able to start to consider how biofeedback and neurofeedback may be of benefit at their location.

Hands-on virtual classroom demonstrations include examples of the use of specific products. In this recording you see the BFE Limited Edition Troubled Youth Suite, BioGraph Infiniti software, and Thought Technology Infiniti hardware. Professionals without access to this technology, or considering a purchase will find the content of particular value to them.

Linda Walker
"A spokesperson for the foundation, Linda Walker, was quoted as saying, it's tragic how the facilities that were available for these troubled youth are being closed because of lack of funding. We are only starting to see the real cost of not looking after people until it's too late, and then locking them up in prison instead of helping them before it is too late".
